Birth Place: Bury, Lancs Residence: Higher Broughton, Manchester Death Date: 30 Jul 1916 Death Location: France & Flanders Enlistment Location: Heaton Park, Manchester Type of Casualty: Killed in action Harry, a warehouseman aged 19, enlisted to the Manchester Regiment on the 19th Febraury 1915. At this time he was living at 31 Bowker St, Broughton. On the 28th of August 1915 he married Gladys Underwood at St John's Church (in duplicate documents the details of this marriage have been struck through and all further correspondnce is sent to Harry's father). Promoted to lance corporal (unpaid) 8/07/1916. Reported missing 01/08/1916. He was officially presumed as killed in action on the 24/05/1917, his identity disc was the only personal possession returned to his family. The 1911 census shows Harry, a 14 year old school boy, living at 31 Bowker St, Broughton, with his parents, Joseph and Esther Johnson, and sisters, Mabel and Elsie. He is also remembered on his mother's headstone at St Paul's, Kersal Moor.

Birth Place: Salford, Lancs Residence: Manchester Death Date: 25 Sep 1915 Death Location: France & Flanders Enlistment Location: Manchester Type of Casualty: Killed in action Alfred attested on the 28th of August 1914 a 19 year old clerk, disembarked in France 21st February 1915. The 1911 census shows Alfred as a 14 year old school boy living at 434 Liverpool Rd, Salford, with his parents, George and Jane Lowe, and siblings, George, Wilfred, Harold, Dorothy, Marjorie and Hilda. Alfred is also remembered on the Salford Grammar School memorial.

The following men require further research to confirm they are the correct men. John Bryson lived on Flax St which shows on some searches as Broughton, others as Salford. I think that Charles and Henry Bryson are brothers, the sons of John and Alice Bryson who are living at 99 Hilton St, Broughton in 1911. He was living with his wife, Elizabeth, and son, Harold, at 15 Cardiff St, Broughton. The son of John and Ellen, brother of William, Arthur and Walter. He attested on the 13th November 1916 aged 38, disembarked in France on the 3rd March 1917. Allowed some leave from the 9/02/1918 to the 23/02/1918. Killed in action on the 21st of March 1918.
