In 1911 James was a Junior Clerk, aged 15, living with his parents, James and Margaret Fulton, and siblings, William, David, Dorothy and Annie, at 28 Tolson St, Broughton
Unfortunately the family suffered further when James' brother William (formerly a Lance Corporal in the Lancashire Fusiliers invalided out 12 months earlier due to illness) passed away 15th of March in the same year from T.B. and David died 17th February in 1925 aged 23.
