I Frankenburgs Greengate Works
2 people I found not on the roll of honour
Corporal William Beswick 1320 Gallipoli 5/5/15, September casualty list . Later A/L/Sgt 280063 6th Lancashire Fusiliers ,discharged 14/4/19 . Served post war with 7th Lancashire Fusiliers as Serg Corporal William Beswick aged 20 was wounded in the upper left arm and wrote home from St Georges Military Hospital Malta " I am in the pink condition again , with the exception of my arm which is going on fine , the wound has not healed up yet, neither can I bend or use my arm , but still it is going on very well indeed. The hospital that I am in in Malta is a Barracks converted into a hospital for the sick and wounded soldiers from the Dardanelles . I suppose by now you will have heard of our last engagement on the Gallipoli Peninsula. One Turkish prisoner that we took said that the Turks called Achi Baba the slaughter house and they were not wrong either, for they weren't half slaughtered. They shot our fellows when the landing was forced in April , but they have paid double for it an no mistake. I don't care how soon it is over. He lived at 17 Pine St Pendleton , was educated at St Annes SchoolBrindlheath and worked as a cutter at Frankenburgs. He was connected with the Seedley Wesleyan Methodist Church and played in the Pendleton and District Footbal League From Hell Let Loose
From Hell Let Loose Benjamin Hurine Lancashire Fusiliers 2318 Benjamin Hurine aged 24 was born in Manchester and lived with his father Benjamin at 58 Rosamund St Salford. He was a packer at Frankenburgs Greengate anda pre war Territorial . He was killed in action ,and buried at Twelve Trees Copse Cemetery . In December 1915 his father believed to be 2796 Lancashire Fusiliers was training at Crowborough. His uncle Private James Hurine 1308 1/8th Lancashire Fusiliers died on 28/11/15
The End

I did find this but think the name transcribed wrongly? MOSSA, Alec Date of death:26 October 1914 Age:37 Place of death:Off Tory Island Place of birth:Aden
On the original image it looks more like: Alee Mossa Age: 37 Rank: Fireman & trimmer Born: Aden, Arabia Last place of abode: 29 Ruby street, Salford. Supposed drownd: 26/10/1914
I wonder if this is the person called Marra in the newspaper?
