His Captain wrote to say that Hatton had gone forward with his trench mortar detachment early in an attack, but became seperated from the others after they reached the enemy trenches, and was not heard of again. He was born in Worsley , the son of John and Hannah. He lived at 65 Station Rd Patricroft, attended Patricroft National School and worked for Nasmyth Wilson and Co, he was in the works footbal team. Buried Browns Copse Cemetery Rouex. He served as John Aldcroft, Aldcroft was the name of his sisters husband. His two brothers Richard and William were in the Manchester Regiment, William was wounded about the same time George was killed
