Edward Carey (killed) Rubber Lancashire Fusiliers Edward Patrick Carey 1905 1/7th Lancashire Fusiliers Died 6/6/15 CWG Panel 58 to 72 or 218 to 219 Helles Memorial From Hell Let Loose Private Edward Patrick Carey of D Company , aged 19 was born in Salford, the son of Mr and Mrs T P Carey of 5 Garden St Lower Broughton. For many years the family lived in Holland St Pendleton. In his last letter home dated 31st of May , he stated that he was in the trenches , and in the pink. He was reported missing for over a year, his parents did not receive official notification of his death until 1st of August 1916. He was a budler in the Battalion , having been a member of St Sebastions bugle band and the leading bass drummer with the Catholic Boys Brigade . He worked at Frankenburgs rubber works Greengate. His brother was at that time stationed in Crowborough serving in the band of the 2/8th Lancashire Fusiliers.
J Chadwick Packing room 7th Lancashire Fusiliers From Hell Let Loose James Chadwick Lancashire Fusiliers 1/7th 2165 , later 280412. Discharged 21/3/19. He lived at 18 Crown St Pendleton and worked in the packing department of Frankenburgs Greengate.
George Carr Rubber 7th Lancashire Fusiliers Lancashire Fusiliers 1525 died 19/12/15 From Hell Let Loose George Carr aged 19 was born in Prestwich , the son of J T Carr of 28 Elton St Lower Broughton, and worked at Frankenburgs. His brothe private Alfred Carr 2537 1/8th Lancashire Fusiliers was killed at Gallipoli on 7/8/15. Gunner Edwin Charles Carr 46431 Royal Field Artillery, Indian Expeditionary Force was serving in the Balkans and had been wounded. Bdr William Carr 92685 Royal Field Artillery had contracted enteric fever in Gallipoli and at the time of Georges death , he had been in a Birmingham Military Hospital for 3 months. Private Harry Carr 8476 B Coy 17th Manchesters was seriously injured when he was crushed by a heavy gun, he was still a patient in Crag Head Hospital Birmingham in December 1915. Three other brothers were still at school.
