Dumfries is lovely and always well worth a visit. Don't think the shops will be open now though! Just follow the Garry-shaped blur up the M6!!!

Yeah, crisps were all 10p when I was in school. Salt n vinegar Chip Sticks, some sort of generic cheesy puffs, spicy tomato flavour balls or transform-a-snaks are the ones I remember. And those Calypso cup drinks. At my original primary school in Droylsden, we used to get the free bottles of milk every day, but they didn't do that when I moved to Astley. Good thing too, as I always hated that milk they dished out at school. It was always room-temperature and full-fat, and I always preferred refreshingly cold semi-skimmed!
Oh yeah - Burtons - I remember them. They used to make those fish and chips things. Weren't they from Warrington??

all those snackettes you mention Jim, including the cup drinks are what we sell at the PTA discos! Milk still available at school, but it now comes in cartons and you have to pay for it termly
