A A Bethel Grenadier Guards Volunteered in September 1914 and 6 months later was drafted to France where he played a prominent part in the Battles of Neuve Chapelle,Hill 60, Ypres(11) Loos, Albert ,Vimy Ridge, Ploegsteert Wood and The Somme. He was badly wounded in action on 15th September 1916, he died in hospital at Camiers 10 days later and was buried at Etaples.He was entitled to 1914-15 star ,general service and victory medals
