Hi Mike,
Good to hear from you and pleased that you have managed to find some more information on John.
Really busy with work and family life at the moment, so research is taking a bit of a backseat at the moment. I will hopefully be back in full swing in the New Year.
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
Garry

Hi Garry , Good to hear from you as well , I visited the Regent Square memorial last week with my Dad and Son , 3 generations of Berry's !!!! , The first time my Son has been to Manchester and first time My dad and I have seen the memorial since it was returned to the Square, Amazing job , looks great and well done to all involved. Very moving to see the tiles made from the original photo of the memorial that my Grandmother gave me all those years ago !!! . that are set in the ground now. finally managed to find out that my other Greatuncle , John Samuel Berry was in the RAF as an Armourer on Bi planes , shortly before the war ended , he survived , just have to try to find out what happened to him after the war now !!!. Hope you are keeping well and your family :-).
Happy New year to you.
Kind Regards,
Mike
PS , Some other people were at the memorial as well , the relatives of E Daniels , who was also in the Kings own Lancaster Regiment and was Killed on the Somme , an amazing coincidence meeting them there !!

Mike, I see that you are making good progress with John Samuel Berry. I wonder if one of the family members of E Daniels that you met at the memorial was one of our forum members? E Daniels

Hi Shred and everyone! I have joined the forum to look for relatives of Cyril Whittle who is on the Irlam Park Memorial. After both my parents died, I cleared his study and found documents belonging to Cyril, who died in Yorkshire about the end of the war. I have no idea how my father came by them, and I have spent months trying to find and contact any surviving relatives. Can anyone help me? I think he deserves to be remembered, and i can't face putting the photos and school books in a skip!!!

Hi Historyhunter, I interviewed Cyril's brother, Jack (also a WW2 veteran), a couple of years ago so I can put you in touch with the family. I'll send you an email with details.
Best regards Pete

Thanks Pete! You sent me the contact details and talked to me about some of the history and I have since had several phone and email conversations with members of the family. It is certain that the personal effects will now be returning to the family at long last. I couldn't have done it with out SWARM, and I have passed on the weblink to others with the same interests. Cheers and good luck to all you history hunters
