Cemetery REDOUBT CEMETERY, HELLES Birth Place: Merthyr Tydvil, Glam Death Location: Gallipoli Enlistment Location: Salford, Lancs Type of Casualty: Killed in action Andrew is shown on the 1911 as a 21 year old textile operative living at 34 Garden St, Broughton, with his parents John and Catherine, and brother Frederick. Hi. this is my Granddad's brother. we still have his last letter written on the ship where he sailed from Alexandria in Egypt to Gallipoli and also the black lined postcard from the King thanking his family for the sacrifice. his brother Frederick lived though the war, though gassed on the Somme. and died in 1953. and is buried in St Joseph's Moston . my father proudly carried the name Andrew all his life, born a month after Andrew's death in 1915 and i proudly carry the family name. RIP.

I hope that you don't mind that I have tidied up the thread/post to make it easier for readers to follow?
Do you know if Frederick served with the Manchester Regiment and the MGC? I can see a medal card that shows a Frederick Blakeney, Manchester Regiment, showing that as well as being awarded the Victory and British medals he was awarded the General Service Medal for serving in Iraq (1920).
