If, as seems to be the case, the memorial has been destroyed, there is some consolation in the fact that a virtual memorial still exists, in the form of this website. My interest is in the two Old Salfordians who were on this memorial and who are also on the Old Salfordians's memorial in the Peel Building of the University of Salford. I have already posted details of other memorials on which Harold Fielding is remembered. For the record, Arthur Winkup is also on the war memorial in the churchyard of St. Michael’s, Abergele, whence his parents had recently retired. A branch of the family seems to have moved to Canada, because his Dead Man’s Penny and scroll were sold at auction in Victoria, British Columbia, in 2005 for $60. Old Salfordian
