Bernard Ritson Hall suffered a gunshot wound to the head on the 13th of May 1915, and was sen to Alexandria. In June he was a patient at Manchester Infirmary. His parents Charles and Mary Ann kived at 100 Stowell St , and in August he was allowed home. His neighbours turned out to welcome him , and the Salford Reporter commented that Bernard thought the welcome was for Rifleman Mariner , the Victoria Cross winner that was due back in Salford at that time. He was amazed that the cheering crowds were for him. He was presented with a wrist watch and a silver Morocco bound cigarette case. Bernard never recovered from from the wound and he died on the 10th of February at Salforf Royal Hospital . He was aged 19 and buried in Weaste Cemetery

Norman Partington aged 21 is recorded as having been killed in action on the 16th of June . However the Battalion war diary shows no casualties for that day, and aletter publihed in the Salford Reporter in February 1916 suggests he was killed earlier. On the 2nd of February 1916 private Stanley Lawman ,wrote from a Red Cross Hospital in Stretford
"Being one of the many unfortuanates of that ill-fated Dardanelles expedition, but still lucky to be alive, the thought struck me that a little news is always very welcome to those who have lost men who were near and dear to them, as to how, when and where they died.If this should reach the eye of people of the name Partington , local people I believe, it will interest them. A boy named Partington ,about 18 years of age died at my feet as I lay wounded myself at a place called Krithia. He received a bullet through the head, was unconscious and died entirely without pain and peacefully in about three minutes . He belonged to my platoon, and I was the last to speak to him before he got hit . I had just warned him to keep low as I lay there. He had a few words with me before he was killed. He died a brave boy.
Private Partington was born in Weaste , the son of Arthur and Selina Ann of 62 Vere St, and was a machine joiner at Evans &Co timber merchants ,also of Vere St. He attended St Lukes Sunday School and had been a member of Salford Lads Club .

Sergeant Harry Sumner was the eldest son of Frederick and Margaret of 98 Nansen St Seedley . He lived with his parents and worked as a packer in Ferguson's warehouse , Dale St Manchester. His name is on the roll of honour of St Lukes Church Weaste. In February 1916 , his mother received a letter for Major Law , commanding A Company " I very much regret to have to tell you that he was killed the same day as his brother Edward. At first he was reported missing and I was in hopes that he would find his way back to his company and rejoin me, but one of his comrades later found his body where he had fallen like a true British soldier, facing the enemy and dying for King and country. He was buried in a soldiers grave on the battlefield.
May I offer you as his Company Commander , my very sincerest sympathy in this double loss you have suffered.... it is not every mother, even in Lancashire , where so many lads com from , who can say she gave two sons to the service of her country, and lost both on the same day , on the same battlefield.
Sergeant Sumner was near his brother when Edward was killed. Both your sons were well conducted and a credit to their regiment. I sincerely regret losing them.
