Thomas Yates younger brother also served during WW1. Joseph Yates Private 18076 Manchester Regiment Joined 1914 and demobbed 1919.

8359 herbert,victor moores enlisted with his older brother donald on 2nd september 1914 at the free trade hall,both served in B.coy,VIII platoon of the 17th manchesters,donald wasnt up to active front line service so he was transferred to the 1st garrison battalion and sent to india,their father william was the licensee of the langworthy hotel at 176 langworthy rd,seedley the plaque says he was killed at montauban on 2nd july 1916,all other references say 1st july,during this fighting,men were being killed on 1st,2nd and 3rd july,but the casualty lists placed them all togethor as 1st july deaths

2741 james walton derbyshire killed in action 30-5-1900 in south africa while serving with the 23rd imperial yeomanry,son of james,walton and elizabeth derbyshire,41 new river st,weaste,his father was a wealthy glass merchant in weaste medals,QSA medal,clasp for cape colony

JB Hayward & Sons Gazetteer: [2822: 2849-2352] a farm in the Cape Colony (Herbert district; Northern Cape), 16 km north of Douglas. In Lt-Gen Sir C. Warren's attempts to clear the area of Cape rebels, his column reached the farm on 26 May 1900 and bivouacked there for several days whilst his forces regrouped and supplies were sent forward. Early on the morning of 30 May the farm and camp were attacked by three columns of burghers, some 500-600, from Campbell. A spirited defence led to the retreat of the burghers with considerable loss; on the British side 15 were killed and 30 wounded. HMG III pp.19-22 (map no.43).

Brother George also served WW1. George Derbyshire Pte 40745, Royal Regiment of Artillery Enlisted age: 36 in 1915 Residence: 37 New River St, Pendleton Weaste.
George Derbyshire married Charlotte Mercer Taylor Sept 1/4 at St Luke, Salford.

Wendy, You can see from the attached image that the lettering on this memorial is a little tricky to read, I have double checked the names and I am quite sure that I have transcribed it correctly. From my brief look at some of the men on this plaque I think it is going to be a difficult memorial to research. I think the parishioners of All Saint's may have been able to name relatives who lived in other areas of the country. Thanks again for your time and help. Attachments:
