James Mower is also on the Irlam and Cadishead War Memorial in Princes Park:
James Mower – Killed in action 7th July 1916 Private James Mower (Service no. 25126) served with the 9th (Service) Battalion, The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, 74th Brigade, 25th Division.
James was born in Patricroft and had previously lived in Cadishead from a young age until about 1910 where he had attended St Mary’s School. He later resided with his parents at 532 Liverpool Road, Peel Green. He was very well known in the Irlam and Cadishead district as he had initially worked for his father in his passenger omnibus service between Eccles and Cadishead. He had also worked at the CWS Soap Works.
In 1914 he enlisted at Manchester into the Lancashire Fusiliers as Private 7410. In 1915 he transferred to the Army Cyclist Corps as Private 3169 and went to France with them on 26th September 1915. He was later gassed near Armentieres and, after recovering, transferred to the 9th Loyals.
James was killed on Friday, 7th July 1916, aged 25. He is buried in the Pozieres British Cemetery, Ovillers-La Boisselle, Somme, France. His obituary in the local newspaper stated: ‘Duty nobly done – deeply mourned by his sorrowing Father and Mother.’ The Irlam and Cadishead War Memorial incorrectly states that James served with the Army Service Corps (ASC). Medal Entitlement: 15 Star Trio.

Sorry, I didn't see James Henry Atherton on the list. Here's his entry in District at War:
The gravestone of James Atherton (died 1888) in Irlam Parish Church has the following engraving ‘Also James Henry son of the above, beloved husband of Elsie Atherton died in action in France September 24th 1918 aged 32 years.’ Apart from the mention on his father’s headstone at Irlam it does not appear that James Henry Atherton had any other connection with the Irlam and Cadishead district. His details are as follows:
ATHERTON, James Henry. Corporal 26611, 1st Battalion, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). Born Patricroft. He enlisted at Manchester into the Royal Fusiliers, Pte P/S/7116. He was later transferred to the Machine Gun Corps. Killed in action 24th September 1918. Buried at Vadencourt British Cemetery, Maissemy, Aisne, France. Medal Entitlement: Pair. His death was reported in the Eccles Journal, dated 18th October 1918 which reported:
‘Corpl. James Henry Atherton, youngest son of the late Mr. James Atherton and Mrs. Atherton, Stanley Arms Hotel, Patricroft, was killed in action on Sept. 24th. Corpl. Atherton was well known in the sporting world – both in cricket and football. For six years he was on the ground staff at Old Trafford, and several times assisted the Lancashire second team in their games, and in the season of 1914 he was engaged as a professional to the Lowerhouse club. Under the Association code he kept goal both for the Eccles Borough club and York City. He had been in France two and a half years, having joined the Colours in the spring of 1915. He enlisted in a public schools Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers, and was later transferred to the Machine Gun Corps. Educated at Patricroft Parish Church Day Schools, he afterwards took up cricket as a professional, and was regarded by all who came into contact with him as a thorough sportsman. He was 32 years of age. On his marriage, about 18 months ago, he resided at 30, Glendinning-st., Seedley. He leaves a widow and one child.’
