hiya gary. i think you have the right edward wilson,he enlisted in patricroft on 14-12-14,although he was underage,the gordon highlanders accepted him because he was a first class piper,he was shot in the right leg and taken POW on 25th sept 1915,he died of his wounds at the military hospital,south canton,valenciennes on 7-11-15,his occupation was pattern card maker,he gave his birth as 9-12-1896,but the mayor of valenciennes stated that edward was born on 4-4-1897

From a District at War (well done Bootneck!): William Fishwick – Killed in action 17th January 1917Private William Fishwick (Service no. 11453) served with the 19th (Service) Battalion (3rd Salford), The Lancashire Fusiliers, 14th Brigade, Pioneer Battalion of the 49th (West Riding) Division. He was born in 1884 at Eccles, the son of John and Mary Fishwick and worked in Irlam at the CWS Soap Works. He enlisted in 1914 at Salford into ‘B’ Company of the 16th (Service) Battalion (2nd Salford) and at some point in the war was posted to the 19th Battalion. He was killed in action on Wednesday, 17th January 1917, aged 33. He is buried at Berles-au-Bois Churchyard Extension, Pas de Calais, France. He is commemorated on the Irlam Soap Works panel of the CWS Memorial at Balloon Street, Manchester and the Patricroft Congregational Church memorial, but he is not listed on the Irlam and Cadishead War Memorial. Medal Entitlement: 15 Star Trio.
