I'm researching Thomas Roberts of the Loyal North Lancs, number 18295. KIA July 15th 1916. Thomas enlisted at Farnworth and he was living at Little Hulton. I have found out quite a lot about him and he is mentioned in a book (Fallen in the Fight) where it stated that he had a brother in the RAMC but so far I have had no luck finding out anything about his brother. He had 4 brothers; David, Edward, James and William. In the Fallen in the Fight book there is a photo of him which we were delighted to find as my step dad had never seen a photo of his grandad. The book also states that he served with the Lancashire Fusiliers in the Boer War but so far I have been unsuccessful finding out anything further about this aspect of his military service (indeed, in his WW1 records it states that he has not previously served ) I have been unable to account for him on the 1901 census so I was wondering if there are any AVL's for the Boer War? Any info about Thomas or his brother would be very much appreciated, thank you

I thought I would upload a photo of Thomas. He lived on Cleggs Lane Little Hulton and although remembered on the Farnworth Memorial the family lived in the Salford boundary. When on our trip to France in August we visited a couple of places where Thomas was in battle, whilst walking one of the fields my step dad was lucky to find a London Scottish cap badge. We visited the fields that Thomas lost his life in and we were able to place a poppy of remembrance, it was a very poignant moment. Attachments:
