Mack,
I would have thought so too but I have never heard mention of one. Maybe one of the forum members knows?

It's another question I can ask at the Local History Library tomorrow. There is this, mentioned in the 2002 list compiled by Stephen Lowe, Roger Dowson and Maurice Marlow: SALFORD: Borough Employees WWI. Former Town Hall, Becton Square. Massive coloured roll (214 names listed under Borough departments) in foyer of present court premises. Now threatened with closure.

Jim,
Is that a memorial or Roll of Honour? I would have thought that a Roll of Honour of all the council staff serving would have had a lot more names than that.
I think the address should read Former Town Hall, Bexley Square.

I'd have to guess that it would be a memorial roll to those that gave their lives in the war. I would have thought there would be more who would have served overall. Like I said, I'll ask / look at the Library tomorrow. We need to clarify that's happened to this roll since 2002 anyway.

Is that not the one that was at the Pendleton Town Hall, Illuminated Scroll, now suppose to be at the New Salford Courts on Eccles New Road ?

Thanks Gary for that. Is that not a memorial to Salford council men who died. I was looking for a Roll of honour to those who served ww1 who were employees of Salford corporation.

We do not know of any Roll of Honour to the employees of the Salford Corporation. If we ever find one it will be posted on the forums.

I don't know about Salford County Borough, but I do know that Bolton County Borough did not have a roll of honour of all staff who served, though they did keep a record (incomplete) of those who died.
The same is true of the general Bolton County Borough Roll of Honour book - it only deals with the ones who died, and it is full of errors and many men were omitted. The book was compiled as it was not feasible to inscribe all of the names on the war memorial in the town centre, and lists 3,305 service personnel and civilians (killed in a zeppelin raid) who died from the County Borough. I'm currently working on this at work, compiling a similar database for Bolton to the one for SWARM, to try to ensure all the previously missed men are accounted for. Also expanding it to cover the modern-day Bolton area, taking in the absorbed separate townships of Blackrod, Horwich, Westhoughton, Turton, Little Lever, Farnworth, Kearsley.
Just a little job to keep me from getting bored!
