On the morning of Sunday July 30th 1944, a heavily laden Lancaster Bomber, crashed whilst its pilot was attempting to make an emergency landing on Littleton Playing Fields in Salford. The lives of all seven crew members were lost. Flight Lieutenant - Peter Lines Flying Officer - John Harvey Steel Flying Officer - Harry Reid Sergeant - Raymond Barnes Sergeant - John Bruce Davenport Sergeant - Mohand Singh Sergeant - Arthur Wilmot Young Also two civilians whose lives were lost.
