My grandad John Harrison (known as Jack) was born in Bolton in 1910, during the second world war my grandad was a coal miner but wanted to do his bit for the country and he joined the Royal Marines. Jack was the last man on the underground canal at Worsley and had a long and successful career with the National Coal Board, he tried his best to get the pit head at Walkden saved as he felt it was an important part of our heritage. Jack died in 2000 just weeks off his 90th birthday. Forever in my thoughts and my heart. Attachments:
