I've had no problems getting in, though I do keep getting a warning header about blocked content due to to invalid security certificate. However, it hasn't blocked the site. Been reading through some of the threads, as my knowledge of Salford is fairly limited so hoping to learn more.

No probs. Just going for a general overview, to add alongside my knowledge of the old parishes of Leigh, Deane and Bolton. There's a lot of links into Salford in those histories, with links to the Parish of Eccles, the Tyldesley family at Wardley Hall, etc. Rather fascinating how neighbouring areas now keep being linked in the past.

My Great Grandma was from Bolton, little Bolton, I have a letter or dad does, of her sending one to her mother(in Salford), whilst visiting her Grandma at Bolton, thats the Crompton link I was talking about, Great Great Grandma, was a Crompton who Married a Morris

My roots are more Bolton than Salford, my Wallworks are my Salford connection and the fact that great grandad and his family lived there from around 1911-1924

I've got very little in the way of Bolton or Salford links, mine are Manchester, Stockport, Cheadle. My interest in the areas originated with my interest in local history, long before I got into family history.

Bomber also said--------''My Great Grandma was from Bolton, little Bolton,'' This is strange, i have an AA book that has the Ladywell hospital area marked as 'Little Bolton'....what's going on there then???

It's still shown on OS maps. The town of Bolton (-le-Moors) was originally two separate townships, divided by the River Croal. Little Bolton was the township on the northern side, and Great Bolton was the township on the southern bank. They merged in 1837 to form Bolton, though the names have sort of lived on.
There used to be a 'Little Bolton Hall' and 'Little Bolton Bleach Works' in the area around Ladywell, shown on the 1844-47 OS map. Guess the name has survived through.
