We recently applied for commemoration for this man with CWGC. If anyone has some further details, it would be great to here.
If some kind person could take a pic of his grave at Agecroft, this would be very much appreciated. Here's what we've gleaned:- Pte 5959/202662/395013 John (Edward) Cross
Pte Cross (born 1881) enlisted in 5th Bttn on 30/10/1916 and served overseas with 2/10th Bttn from 6/2/1917. He was wounded on 8/8/1918 & 24/8/1918 and posted home on 27/8/1918. John was discharged with SWB on 30/10/1918, aged 39.Received Pension for GSW back & abdomen. 100% disability and complete parplygia, he remained in hospital. John died on 7/10/1919, aged 38. John Cross died from GSW to the spine and diarrhoea caused by TB of intestine glands. He was at the Park Lane Home for retired soldiers having been admitted from King George’s Hospital, London. His father was present of 8 Piercy St, Broughton.
