Does anyone have any tips on how I could find out if my great uncle is named on any memorials in Salford? He was Lance Corporal Walter Stewart Barker.
Thanks to some fantastic, awesome help from this forum I now know he went to St Hilda's School, Old Trafford and worked for J and N Phillips.
He was born in Salford and was the son of George Barker a Salford Councillor and was in the Manchester Regiment, 2nd Battalion. He died on 19/8/18 aged 21. thank you

Thank you for that. I am hoping that we can go and view this book and the relevant page, perhaps combine it with a visit to the Manchester Regiment Museum. Now I have started this search I am surprised by how much I want to continue and I want to see if I can find any more about Walter and indeed the other brothers. I am quite upset that like probably many others his name is not on a memorial, perhaps it is because of those 6 siblings, George, Stanley, Alfred, John, Walter and Anne, my father and brother are the last Barkers from that family.
