Please note: This Roll of Honour was published in 1917 therefore there are many men who joined in 1917 and 1918 who are not listed. There are 300+ men on the RoH, but 1088 men from the district served The Roll of Honour states that John Joseph Mears won the DCM (no evidence of this has been found) In the "Our Missing Heroes" photo section, after the war, all the men on this page were declared "killed in action" with the exception of Lt J. Stott (who is on the Irlam and Cadishead War Memorial but died much later aged 80) Many of the men on the war memorial who died in 1917 and 1918 are not listed as 'Killed' because of the dating of the bookThe 1088 men referred to in the above caveat are all featured in the brilliant "A District at War - Irlam and Cadishead's Part in the Great War" by Neil Drum and Pete Thomas.
