I have contacted the Reverend Andy Salmon at Sacred Trinity Church Salford and he has confirmed that the Thiepval day service will be happening in it's centenary year, 2016 with the co-operation of The Lancashire Fusiliers and The Lancashire Fusiliers Museum in Bury. He says that if it is successful there may be a chance that it could be carried on into the future. We all need to get behind them as it will be the last time for many of us to be part of it because of age. Please spread the word. Thiepval day was begun at the end of the First World War as a memoriam to all those lads who were killed on July 1st 1916 on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. I understand It ceased sometime between the first and second world wars.

Toby, Many thanks for posting this information. I was very interested to read that the event has been organised as we haven't been advised. A little disappointing as we had approached the church, the Fusiliers and the Museum in December 2011 asking if the Thiepval Day service could be arranged for 2016. See hereThat said, it is great news that the service has been arranged and I agree with your sentiments 100%.
