On March 19, 1945 Spitfire XVI of the 322 (Dutch) Squadron crashed at Achterdijk-Kruisstraat. This hunter was flown by F / Sgt Saul David Lazarus (23), who was killed in the crash. He was first temporarily buried in the cemetery of the Reformed congregation Orthen and later reburied at the British war cemetery in Bergen op Zoom. Although he flew with the Dutch 322 squadron Lazarus was from Salford Lancashire. He was a son of Abraham and Fanny Lazarus.
