Dear All,
Can anyone help find the grave of my great-great Grandmother.
She was born Betsy Sixsmith in 1852 in Walkden, marrying John Waring at St Mary's Church, Eccles on 12 Oct 1872. They had 11 children until John's death aged 40 in 1890.
Betsy re-married Robert Battesby in 1892 and have 1 further child, Arthur Battesby born in 1892.
Betsy died aged 71 in Q2 of 1923 in Barton On Irwell which is very general but I suspect its likely to be in the Pendlebury / Swinton area.
Robert Battesby died in 1942.
I have fairly detailed records of all the rest of Betsy's life and that of her husbands and children. The only mystery is her burial site.
I've not found her in any of the local churches though by the mid-1920's most would have been buried in local authority cemeteries rather than church yards.
I'm intrigued by Betsy as her life seemed particularly hard, 11 children and widowed by the age of 38. Married life was in the poor housing stock of Bolton Road in Pendlebury and all male relations were colliers and females worked in the mill.
Any ideas?
Simon

The death certificate should give you the abode she died at and maybe then look for records at local churches or she could even be in Weaste cemetery but you would need an exact date of death. There is one Battesby buried in a grave in Weaste cemetery on Cemsearch. Down as "BATTERSBY" CLICK HERE FOR CEMSEARCHBen

You might try Salford library for any notice in the local papers?

Simon,
If you can give a precise date of death for Betsy or Robert I will check the local papers for you. A whole quarter of obits and interments would take some time to check, so any help in narrowing down the date of death would be great.
