Ben,
It would be difficult to pin the date of death down, Fred's medal card doesn't give a date and the absence of a service record make a definitive date hard to say. I am quite certain that all the records are the same Fred Simpson.

H Rooke 19th Lancashire Fusiliers From roll of the great war Volunteered September 1914 and crossed to France in March 1915, he was badly gassed at Cambrai ,and was invalided back to England. On recovery he was transferred to RDC and engaged on duties in Ireland until demobbed in January 1919 . He unfortunately died from TB on 2/3/20 14 Pritchard St Regent Rd Salford Deaths Born 1879 died March 1920 Salford 1911 census Henry Rooke born 1880 Salford, 65 Brighton St Salford , Dock Labourer.

W C Veness Sergeant 12th Warwickshire Regiment From roll of the great war An ex soldier who had served in India and South Africa , volunteered September 1914, engaged as an instructor in musketry , Discharged May 1916 due to illness ,died 1917 and buried in Weaste Cemetery. A Wakefield Lancashire Fusiliers From roll of the great war Previously served in South Africa campaign , he re-enlisted in April 1915 , and was engaged on guard duties in Patricroft. His health broke down and he was discharged in July 1915 and has since died 14 Fielding St Patricroft I can not pinpoint him.
B Watton MGC From roll of the great war Joined June 1916 , by January 1917 was overseas , killed in action 5/10/18 in Ypres sector 66 Enbridge St Salford Benjamin enlisted Manchester formerly LF CWG Dadizeele New British Cemetery Age 33 husband of Matilda Watton of 66 Enbridge St Salford Married Matilda Eaton 1913 Salford born Nottingham
