Ben,
It would be difficult to pin the date of death down, Fred's medal card doesn't give a date and the absence of a service record make a definitive date hard to say. I am quite certain that all the records are the same Fred Simpson.

H Rooke 19th Lancashire Fusiliers

Volunteered September 1914 and crossed to France in March 1915, he was badly gassed at Cambrai ,and was invalided back to England. On recovery he was transferred to RDC and engaged on duties in Ireland until demobbed in January 1919 . He unfortunately died from TB on 2/3/20
