I have spoken to she who must be obeyed.
Her grandparents are: Harriet South and John W Sutton Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1918 SOUTH Harriet SUTTON John W Salford Ascension Salford C29/7/387
Harriet was the daughter of Richard and Mary South. 1911 census: 14 David St, Broughton Richard South 47 Mary South 46 Richard South 17 Harriet South 15 James South 12 Florence South 10 Margaret South 8 John South 5
Harriet passed away before my wife was born, so she does not remember her. She does remember Florence (highlighted in red) who lived to a ripe old age and she does recall her great-aunt Flo saying that the family were related to the footballer Archie Gemmell (we don't know if there is any truth in this).

I have just shown her the pictures and none of the above mean anything.
Her list of Suttons are Wilf, Jack, Elizabeth, Phoebe and Daisy. She is unsure who Violet and William are.
In your last post did you mean that your mother was Annie's daughter and your father was Henry's son?

Family....Regarding the footballer Archie Gemmell i remember asking my Dad many years ago if we were related in some way and he told us he was not sure, He said however that we did have relatives somewhere in the west of Scotland in Ayrshire..My Dad would never talk about the war and it was only that years later i understood why..My Dad was about nine years old when his dad was killed in the great War...Dad was correct however as we have found out that his Dad and his family came from the Irvine area..
John gemmell.....Father Daniel..................Son James..................Son......My Grandfather...Married Annie South Henry...................Son
All four moved to the salford area and inlisted into the Lancashire Fusiliers...Daniel,James and Henry were married to Salford/Warrington lassies. John,Daniel and James all died in the War...Only Henry came home but sadly died in 1945 and was buried in Warrington....
