Hi folks, Looking for the WWI Service records of:-
Herbert Mounsey Peacock b. 1897 Chorlton d. 1957
Found a Medal Card on Ancestry only, but don't know if it his him:- Sgt.Herbert Mounsey Peacock Reg.N°. 08141 - Army Ordance Corps
Grateful for any help.

hi steve, I can find only 1 birth for this name, so I would say you had the right man,
1901 census Herbert M Peacock Mother's name: Alice Peacock Where born: Manchester, Lancashire, England Civil parish: South Manchester Ecclesiastical parish: Hulme St Paul Herbert M Peacock 40 born manchester abt 1861 he was born 1860 on the 1861 census aged 9 months Alice Peacock 31 born Ingham Lincolnshire abt 1870 Herbert M Peacock 4 born manchester 5 Mar 1897

Herbert Mounsey Peacock married Mary Ellen Boler formally Jones in 1920 at Chorlton register office. Mary Ellen Boler nee Jones had been married before to John Henry Boler Click here for a copy of the marriage
There is a Herbert Peacock shown on the 1927 directory at 5 Derby place, but sadly he does not show up on 1918 Hulme - Moss side or Chorlton-on -Medlock Absent voters registers.

Hi Ben, Wow, spot on again and not the first time you've solved something for me Have only just started researching this guy, so I am very grateful for your time. Just curiosity; MC John Henry Boler has father John Boler Confectioner. His father was Samuel Boler(wheelwright) and this John Boler was actually John Featherstone who lived down the road and nipped in when Samuel was at work!

Steve, I would think thatt 08141, Sergeant Herbert Mounsey Peacock is your man. Here are two probate records for Herbert Mounsey Peackock, the first is for your Herbert: Name: Herbert M Peacock Birth Date: abt 1897 Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1957 Age at Death: 60 Registration district: Manchester Inferred County: Lancashire Volume: 10e Page: 281 I am quite sure that this is Herbert's father: Name: Herbert M Peacock Birth Date: abt 1861 Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1940 Age at Death: 79 Registration district: Manchester Inferred County: Lancashire Volume: Page: 623

Herbert Mounsey Peacock is buried in Southern cemetery, church of England section, grave number: N-1021. He was buried on 5th March 1940. Age 79 retired. Abode: 5 Collins street, Hulme. Also buried in the same grave was his wife Alice Peacock. Buried on 10th Sept 1913 age 43. Abode 179 York street, Hulme.
