are there any memorials for these two places,eccles rugby club still exists but the church has long gone.
pte 2463 charles,percy wild "avondale"temple drive,swinton enlisted in the 1/6th manchesters in august 1914 with his younger brother oscar worked as a draughtsman at mather+platts killed in action 7-8-15 aged 24 played for eccles rugby club and swinton cricket club,member of trinity cong church,sang in the choir
oscar became an officer in the manchesters and survived the war,but their brother samuel stanley wild was killed in 1916 with the royal fusiliers,charles+samuels names appear on the lychgate at st.peters swinton

it was the trinity congregational church on jane lane,i think the lane comes under a different name now.

The Trinity Church definitely had a memorial. Here is an extract from "The History of Trinity Congregational Church, Swinton" I wonder if the Eric Wild who unveiled the memorial is the younger brother of Charles, Oscar and Samuel? Memorial PLOEGSTEERT MEMORIAL Additional Information: Son of Thomas Alfred and Mary Crompton, of The Beeches, Worsley Rd., Swinton, Manchester. Type of Casualty: Killed in action
1911 census - Thomas is seen as a 14 year old schoolboy living at The Beeches, Worsley Rd, Swinton, with his parents Thomas and Mary, and sister Nellie. I believe that this is the same man as Tom Crompton who is remembered on the St Peter's Lychgate memorial.

1911 census - Fred was a 22 year old coal merchents clerk living at 100 Swinton Hall Rd, Swinton, with his parents Matthew and Maria, and siblings William, Albert and Minnie. Fred married Doris Blackley in 1913. Fred is also remembered on the St Peter's Lychgate memorial.
