Does anyone have access to a copy of the rare book "The Lancashire Fusiliers: The roll of honour of the Salford Brigade 15th, 16th, 19th, 20th and 21st Lancashire Fusiliers" by Montague Barlow? I need a good quality copy of the photo of of 3 Platoon, A Company 19th Lancashire Fusiliers and I believe such a picture is included in that book.
I did find a poor photocopy of the photo on the net but can't ID individuals as its low res.
The reason - I have several small informal group shots of Lancs Fusiliers I believe were taken at Codford and which may include my great uncle George Ingham. They come from Jackie Waters' gr uncle, the source of the letter I previously posted. If I can ID other men in the photo to the published group shot of 3 platoon, my confidence level will increase that George is included in the informal shots. George joined the 3rd Salfords in late 1915 after the official group photos selectively published in Stedman's book were taken.
Thanks for any help you can provide this fellow sadly isolated on the wrong side of the big pond.
Colin

Colin,
I am trying to send high resolution images to the email address that you used to register with this forum. Unfortunately I am receiving a failed delivery notification. Is this email address still valid? Does it have an attachment size limitation?
You can PM me an alternative email address if you wish.

Thanks Garry - they're great. The right hand one has the heads chopped off in the back row but otherwise everyone is very recognisable. I will spend the next few days comparing and will let you know my conclusions. Again - VERY generous of you to provide these.
Cheers
Colin

Colin,
As my post (number 3) states I had three emails undeliverable to you email address. I then tried the site recommended by Ben, you should have received an email from the site with links to each of the files to download, from memory there were 9 files. Did you receive this email?

i just got 1 email with 2 photos attached. Can you try my home (rather than work email where they very reasonably have tighter controls).
I will PM it to you.
Thanks and sorry to be a technological bother :-)

And all received with my extreme gratitude. I will post my conclusions. How I envy you having access to that very useful book by Barlow.
I suppose its out of coppyright - has consideration ever been given to putting scans and lists of all of the Salford battalions up on this site for reference? That would seem to tie well to the intent of the site (remembering Salford men) and it would be a very useful research source.
Stedman showed several nice group shots (presumaby form Barlow) of the 1st and 2nd battalions but nothing on the 3rd and 4th.
Cheers

Colin,
I was discussing this with one of the librarians from Salford Local History. They are thinking of asking the Manchester and Lancashire Family History Society to scan and index the book making it available for purchase on CD. If this does not come to fruition I will try and do as you suggest.

That's a great idea and I am sure a lot of folk would snap it up. I certainly would, even if priced as a fundraiser.
Thanks again!
