THE MEN WHO CLEARED D-DAY BEACHES In England recently there was a display of underwater swimming and diving equipment as was used to clear the D-Day beaches. Petty-Officer S. C. Eagles, D.S.M. of Salford, Lancs, helps Seaman P. Sagar, of Tilbury, on with his "fish" suit. Sydney Chadwick Eagles was born in Salford in 1912. He married Mary J Hill in 1934, died at Carmarthen in 1918. Attachments:

He was the son of James & Lily Eagles nee Armstrong of 19 Wellington street, Broughton, Salford. Born Sydney Chadwick Eagles 25 Nov 1911 James & Lily married Dec 1/4 1906 at ST. John church, Broughton. Siblings Frederick James & Jennie Eagles. Joan Eagles went on to marry Errol Ganley Sept 1/4 1961 in Salford.
Sydney & Mary Eagles nee Hill have a daughter Joan born 1942. Sydney/Mary & Daughter Joan seem to travel to New York in 17th Feb 1948, he is a dispatch manager at the time and coming back he is resisted as an accountant when the family sail from Mombasa, Kenya on the 27 Sep 1948. His home address is 54 North George street Salford 3.
