Cemetery DENSTONE (ALL SAINTS) CHURCHYARD Additional Information: Son of Sir Thomas Percival Heywood, 2nd Bart., and Lady Heywood; husband of Florence Maud Heywood, of Claremont, Pendleton, Manchester. Served in the South African Campaign. Colonel Bertram Charles Percival Heywood was born on 10 November 1864. He was the son of Sir Thomas Percival Heywood, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Heywood. He married Florence Maude Meynell, daughter of Edward David Meynell, on 30 April 1889. He died on 28 October 1914 at age 49. He graduated from Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.). He was decorated with the award of Territorial Decoration (T.D.). He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1901. He was commanding officer of the Manchester Infantry Brigade between 1906 and 1911. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Staffordshire. He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the service of the 6th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. The 1911 census shows Bertram living at Wooton Lodge, Ashbourne. Attachments:
