Forum member Prospectroad lent me this book recently and I was absolutely blown away with it. A book that describes the raising of Kitchener's Army, how that army was structured and used during the battle, the mistakes/bad decisions made on the 1st July 1916 and for days after, lastly leading up to the way the men were treated on their return to a "land fit for heroes". A fantastic and educational read that isn't written in a boring or taxing fashion. The first chapter can be read on Amazon by clicking on the book here.
