I am quite sure that Captain Frederick William Partington and Major Walter Partington are brothers. Major Walter Partington's medal card gives his initials as "W S", the "S" has been struck through. The following could be the family in the 1911 census: Jonathan Partington 59 Elizabeth Jane Partington 58 John Shepperd Partington 27 Mary Partington 23 Dorothy Partington 21 Frederick William Partington 18 Walter Partington 17 Edward Partington 14 Details for Walter: Name: Walter Partington Age in 1911: 17 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1894 Relation to Head: Son Gender: Male Birth Place: Hull, Yorkshire, England Civil parish: Oldham County/Island: Lancashire Country: England Street Address: 39 Kersley Street, Oldham Marital Status: Single Occupation: Clerk (mill) Note the year and place of birth and compare with the attached file. this still does not connect either with Pendleton. Could we be looking for a business connection? Attachments:

I'd seen that family on the 1911 census Gary but couldn't work out how they relate to the Pendleton church? Ben
