I've just received a death certificate (1856) and one of the addresses shown is North Road Pendlebury, can anyone tell me where this is/was and does anyone have a map with it on please?

I've a feeling this was the old name for what later became Bolton Road Pendlebury, though I could be mistaken. I'll see if it shows up on the 1844-47 6" O/S maps tomorrow and let you know.

Just confirmed on www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html. The road south east of the fork where Bolton Road splits off is definitely labelled North Road on the 1844-47 6" OS map. On the later 1890 edition it is Bolton Road. Manchester Road splits off at the fork along what is now the modern A6 towards Swinton. I'll try to scan you that section of the map tomorrow and email you the relevant image(s).

St. John's Pendlebury is close by, and it is an old church as it's on the 1840's map. Not listed on lan-opc though. Registers may be on film at Salford, or should definitely be at Manchester.

Scans done. Wouldn't you just know it - to get the whole area takes in the join of three maps! I'll compress and email them tonight when I get home. Can't find Union Street marked on the map, but the 6" scale is so small, they didn't label every single street. Still working on nailing that one down by census sheets! [EDIT: Found Union Street on a slightly later map, just off Bolton Road, so scanned that too! I've also photocopied them, so I'll pop photocopies in the post for you with the relevant places marked.] Have a great day. The sun's shining here, though it is a little chilly out.
