Sorry do you mind if I ask a few quick questions? Fred Baume Royal Navy attached to the R.A.R. FRED 1888.png What does R.A.R stand for/mean? 31st Dec 1917 to 1st April 1918 Fred was serving at a wireless operator. FRED 1888 2.png What kind of document is that? Are these both connected to the electoral roll absence? Being in the navy would he have a Medal Index Card or is that for soldiers only? I have a navy service record (attached) The_National_Archive_Order_D7688333_13-05-2....pdf (218.42 KB) Many thanks

Hi Pete, first of all the R.A.R. should have been R.A.F., i'v now edited the original post. Fred was awarded the Victory & British medals from the royal navy. Early Royal Flying corps & Royal Air Force cam under the command of the Royal Nay. Fred married Gladys May Barton 1st Jan 1916, on his wedding certificate it shows Galdys father occupation as a Soldier. Looking at the birth of the Barton children, it looks like the father William Barton had served in the army for a long time as Rose Ellen Barton Was born 1888 Aldershot, Emily Mabel Barton born 1889 Tipperary, Ireland, Gladys May Barton born 1893 Limerick, Ireland Attachment DeletedIt also list her brother William Cecil Barton as a witness, William Cecil also signed up world war one with his brother George Victor Barton. This should keep you busy researchin Ben

Hi Pete, first of all this is not my site, i am just a member, like many others who tries to help other in what ever small way we can. Regarding the Adelphi Lads Club - WW1 RoH (Killed and Survived.) I am guessing that the image on the SWARM Website was put on there by Shred aka Gary one of the forum & website administrators? When Shred/Gary pops on the forum, he should be able to tell you more. I know he has a very busy life at the moment but sure he will be back soon? There is a good possibility that Salford local history library would have a copy? You have to phone and make an appointment these days, due to cut backs by the council. The local history library is at : Salford Museum & Art Gallery, Crescent, Salford M5 4WU 0161 778 0814 Ben

Hi Pete,
Welcome to the forum. I am pleased that Ben has so kindly spent his time helping you, and happy that you found the picture of Harold contained in the Adelphi Lads Club RoH (yes, there is a copy of this at the Salford History Library). I have checked our indexes for the Salford Reporter and Eccles Journal and I am sorry to report that I was unable to find an entry for Harold.
Best wishes with your research.

Hi
I'm trying to locate the family grave and not having much luck, can I ask how shred found the grave? Been all round the graveyard and couldn't see it. I'm new to family trees and research. Is there a way to search for a grave or is it a case of contacting the church direct for a way to pin point where the grave is?
Thanks again
Pete

Hi Pete, i'd give a miss to trying contacting the church. I Phoned, emailed & even used there website link on about a dozen occasions and to-date i have not had one response from the vicar or anyone I'm sure Gary will be able to find you what you want ( Direction & plot location). Ben

Hi Pete, Enter the cemetery grounds using the entrance on the left hand side. Walk straight up the freshly mown path until you reach the obelisk shaped headstone shown in the forefront of the image below (McNiel family). The next image shows my daughter standing in front of the Baume family grave. HTH
