Hi Thanks for this, the information is great. Amazing to see a photo hope another family member can identify him! Was doing a grave search as well for that grave he's mentioned on so I'll go have a look thanks so much. He's here as well www.salfordwarmemorials.co.uk/st-johns-broughton.html not sure what state it is now I'm not from the area the family moved to Blackburn due to the second world war. I have a photo of Fred he served in the Navy I think but only just started researching thought I would start with Harold. Any info on Fred would be much appreciated. Many thanks Pete :-)

Pete, the Manchester Evening News (MEN) article on 18th September 1916, highlighted by Ben, will include a photo of Harold. The photos in the MEN tend to be quite small and not very clear, however, it might be enough to help you pinpoint Harold on the 20th Manchesters photo above.
Hope this helps Pete

Hi
Oh that's a shame about the photo. Looking at his family tree his brother in law Thomas Wigg fought in the 22nd Batalion I think. I have Harold's medals and Thomas's tags his number is 25783. Might be a photo of them together bit of a long shot though. Either way would be great to have any info on Thomas.
I have ordered a copy of Harold's war will so many thanks for all the help and the links.
Thanks
