Hi, I research and write up short biographies of those buried and remembered at Histon Road Cemetery, Cambridge for our 'Friends' Newsletters. See www.histonroadcemetery.org for some examples. I am currently updating the information on WW1 related burials.
Charles Lees Bedale is buried here but grew up in Eccles, Manchester and is remembered on that War Memorial. You have a splendid photograph of him and biographical information on this site. If anyone has anything further I would be most interested.

Hi Michael,
I will check if there was an article published in the Eccles Journal when I visit the library tomorrow evening.

Hello & welcome Michael This is something i found for you that might be interesting and you may want to add to your records? It may be work checking with the John Rylands library if they have anything as he helped with a lot of translation work there? Click here for John Rylands library Ben

Hi, Thanks for that. I will certainly follow up with Rylands Library. I have obviously looked at local resources here in Cambridge but it had never really occurred to me until I was re-reading what I have yesterday, that I should be looking in Eccles - the Wesleyan Church & School (photographic) Roll of Honour is quite amazing and unlike anything I have come across before. It would be good to know if the local paper did publish an obituary, it isn't the source of the one above from Ben is it ?

Michael,
I see that Ben has found some nice pieces for you. I am sorry to report that I did not find an obit' in the Eccles Journal. There may have been one but as the 1919 Eccles Journal microfilms are in such poor condition (scratches and overexposed) I may have missed it.
Sorry.
Garry

Hi, Thanks to Ben for these snippets and to Garry for looking for an Obit. I have managed to find a bit about Didsbury Theological College where he taught and the Dept of Manchester University where he pursued his Assyrian studies. Have also found there to be a local nhs archive here in Cambridge for the Eastern General Hospital where he died so am making progress.
