is there any info in the salford papers about CSM waddicor,he died in leaf square military hospital on 22-2-17,he was discharge from the army with heart trouble on 21-9-16,he and his brother were both old boys of sussex st school, both are named on the roll of honour, theres a fair chance hes entitled to war grave status, full name CSM 10579 william, nelson waddicor, his father william, valentine waddicor died 3 days before him on 19th february, anyone know where hes buried
Might also be worth check where his wife Maud May Waddicor nee Smith is buried? She might be in a family grave with him? Another thing you could do Mack, is ask Agecroft if they have records of him but give the reason why you are asking. We all know they will charge you other wise. Tell them you don't need the detail, just if they have him for the purpose of getting the C.W.G.C to add him to there list & acknowledge him as a war death. Also follow up what happened to his children. i.e. who where & when married or died.
Worth checking to see if there is anything in the newspapers for his mothers death?
Mack, i found someone with William Nelson Waddicor family in there family tree and sent them a message to see if they know where he or any family members are buried. All we can do is wait and see if they get back to me?
Looks like this is a definite In Fron the Cold case. I will check the local paper for any articles and look at the interments for around the date of his death. SWARM will pay for a copy of his death certificate.
Name: William N Waddicor Birth Date: abt 1887 Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1917 Age at Death: 30 Registration District: Salford Inferred County: Lancashire Volume: Page: 149
Mack, wounder if this might have been the family grave?
Harold Norman Waddicor 1898-1938 interred in Wesleyan Cemetery Cheetham Hill Manchester. Alfred (Nelson) Waddicor 1891-1946 interred in Cheetham Hill Manchester. This cemetery was opened in 1834 and closed in 1966. 20,000 bodies were reinterred in a mass grave in St Peter's Road,Bury and a few in Southern Cemetery.
So possiblity that the rest of the family may be buried with them?
In a way i hope they were not re-entered in ST. Peter cemetery, Bury, as i know some one who carried out the removal of the remains from the Wesleyan cemetery in Cheetham hill and they said that most of the remains were just thrown in bags and shoved in the back of a van. No one new who body/remains where who & really didn't care, it was just a job to them
