Hi, to everyone,I'm looking forward to this site, just scouring your site as a guest I have already come across one of my relatives and I can't wait to investigate a bit more. My ancestors are from Suffolk and were Agricultural Laborers and where forced to move in the 1870's to Eccles because of lack of work in Suffolk. One son from this family then left Eccles and moved to St.Helens of who I am descended and have been born & bred there all my life. Regards

Thanks for the introduction, I hope that you find a few more of your relatives. We visit the Salford Local History Library now and again so if you would like us to look for some more details on any of yours please let us know.

Hi Suffolknomad, Welcome to SWARM. My links with Salford go back many generations and I also have family from Needham Market, Suffolk (surname Buckle) who made the journey "oop north" I believe there is a Suffolk family history fair on October 8th. Hope you find the forums interesting and useful in your research

Hi Spitfire, Thankyou for the welcome,It's funny that you mention Needam Market we were there in June and then we went on to near by Stowmarket. My family MOWER are from all over Suffolk but mainly Cratfield,Huntingfield,Wrentham. I've not come across any BUCKLE'S in my tree.

Hi Garry, Thank you for your warm welcome, I know I have already contacted you by PM but I am just getting the hang of leaving these post messages (I think) and thought it only curtious of me to respond to your welcome. Regards Jeff

Jeff, This is the best I could do. Hope it is OK? May I suggest that you order a copy of A District At War by Neil Drum and Pete Thomas (one of the forum members). There is a full page devoted to remember James Mower. Here is a link to order the book linkWorth every penny. Regards, Garry PS click on picture for larger image. Attachments:

Jeff,
I have noticed that the link that I inserted for the book A District At War wasn't working. I have altered my post to the correct address for ordering.

Hi again Jeff, If you come across any BUCKLE folk or TREVITT (various spellings!) in your tree with connections to Lancashire, Suffolk or Shropshire, please give me a shout I am seriously considering a trip to Suffolk next month to do a bit of digging

Hi Spitfire, I will certainly keep an eye open for your Buckle and Trevitt families when I am doing my Suffolk research and I will go over the Suffolk Parish Records that I have in my possession to see if there is anything that might be of interest to you. You should go to Suffolk and walk in the footsteps of your ancestors. Regards Jeff
