Lance Corporal 21418 William Davenport (King's Own ) Royal Lancaster Regt of 31 Alpha St, Seedley, Salford son of Thomas and Sarah Ann. Prior to the war he was a Railway Clerk. William enlisted on the 1st Nov 1915 and was quickly promoted to Lance Corporal, but due to bad eyesight was only fit for home service. He was accidentally shot whilst acting as a marker at a snipers' range aged 20. William's body was brought back to Salford and he was buried at Weaste Cemetery, plot J.73.
