old soldiers

old soldiers they will all pass away
some on there own and most far away
they served their country through thick and thin
then quietly retired with out all the din

its a sad event if you knew someone
trying to find out were he came from
turning up to his funeral with very few there
recognising no one its a sad affair

this is what happens when you get old
out living the young ones and most not so old
we have to carry on and let people know
he fought for this country we thought you should know

Nice sonnet Tony. It kind of reminds us that it is our responsibility, as we grow older, to nuture and educate the young. We far to often criticise the young when we have not instilled values ourselves. Nice poem....I like it.
