Now although the church itself looks to be in good order from the outside, the graveyard leaves A LOT to be desired. I actually cried at this one...it's like a jungle, litter everywhere, smashed headstones. It's an utter disgrace. I took plenty of photos and also movie footage of the graveyard for anyone interested. I'm going to speak with someone next week about this as it really upset me seeing this so uncared for. I ventured as far into the undergrowth as I could though it was hazardous in many places and some of the photos look like I've been on a safari photographing wildlife and fauna when actually what I'm trying to show is the graves hidden within the jungle...only it's so dense you can't see the graves on my photos! There are some war graves and I have taken quite a few photos...close up ones if anyone needs them for family history etc and also more general ones which show the war graves in the surroundings This is no way to respect the generations that have passed...

Many of the graves/headstones etc in this churchyard are not small, they are very big yet they cannot be seen clearly. I was unable to get to many and unable to read inscriptions to due the jungle. Not sure what people do if they find themselves researching their family history/burials at this place Attachments:

I am sorry to say that the condition of that graveyard is absolutely disgusting. It's bordering on vulgar. You're right, that is not a fitting surrounding in which to remember past generations with dignity and respect. Without any doubt, the worst I've seen. A very sorry sight.

This is one of the war graves in this churchyard, you can see the grave marked by a red ribbon from an old Christmas wreath. Close ups of the headstone are available but I wanted to show the reality. It is in a bad way and the lettering is not very clear on my photos so I have not done a full transcription: W CARTWRIGHT ABLE SEAMAN 8TH JULY 1946 AGE 21 :poppy: Attachments:

Jim, it's worse than that photo I can promise you There must be some community service scheme which can help clear this and I think perhaps the council would supply a skip from my enquiries this evening. I will not let this continue.

I'm appalled. I'd volunteer to help with a cleanup / clearance personally, just out of respect for those interred and remembered there.
