Greengate Memorial Francis Finley only one found from medal roll Northumberland Fusiliers 4/618 William Finley Machine Gun Corp Joining in June 1916 he went overseas 6 months later and saw active srevice in France and Flanders.He did good work with his section at the battle of The Somme , Bullecourt and Ypres. He was gassed in July 1917 on his recovery he returned to to the forward areas and served in various parts of the British Front until the end of the war.He was demobbed in March 1919. Greengate Memorial Charles Hebblethwaite (Died) only one C J Lieutenant Regiment General list Nigeria Regiment WAFF attd 1st Battalion Died 7/4/1915 CWG MAIO Kalei Military Grave Harold Hebblethwaite (killed) Born Salford Private Lancashire Fusiliers 19th Battalion 34990 Died 29/4/1918 CWG Age 20 Son of Mrs Ellen Hebblethwaite of 124 Greengate Salford VA.18 Dunkirk Town Cemetery Wendy Harold is correct but I believe that the Charles named is his father as shown in this article.  Charles (9312, Royal Field Artillery) died at St Annes on Sea on either the 4/5 April 1915. He is buried in Weaste Cemetery.   |
