My aunt, Elsie Horton, nee Marston, was an ambulance driver during the second world war and lived at the family home in Ruthin St. As far as I know this street was just behind Salford Royal Hospital, and on the night of the blitz she was on duty and helped move some of the injured.
I would be interested to read of any (female) person's memories of serving in the ambulance service in Salford during the war and of course if anyone has any memories of my aunt. After the war she married Arthur Horton and had two children though her husband died in the early 1950's. She lived after marriage in flats near to the Bird in Hand pub on St Stephens St. Thanks.
