Mack,
I have found "Pneumonia" listed on many service/pension records of men who died in 1918 and think most are related to the Spanish Flu pandemic. Would you concur with my thoughts?

Garry i agree gary,in most cases, spanish flu wasnt the killer,it was the secondary pneumonia that did it,the scary thing about spanish flu was that you were at risk if you were young and fit,old people had a better chance of survivng, the plus side is if you did survive it and you caught it again, you would most likely survive. mack

The majority of WW1 Graves here have been photographed, there are over 1000, only 450 of those appear on the CWGC, the rest are Family Graves, if anyone wants any info, please ask, Whilst not Complete, I can always pop down and get one, I will however continue next year in completing the rest

I am sorry to report that the Roman Catholic "Screen Wall" has toppled from its plinth. This has been reported to both the CWGC and Salford Council. I shall try and keep members updated as to when the stone will be re-laid.

I have received a response from both the council and the CWGC. Members of the CWGC will be visiting Weaste tomorrow (Wednesday 14th August) to assess the damage.

Well done for reporting it Gary and for getting the attention of those who can help repair/replace the headstone.

Thanks Ben. I think most people would have done the same.
New message from CWGC received today:
To confirm our team has just visited the above site. They do not have the equipment on their van in order to affect the repair immediately. They have confirmed that the memorial in its recumbent position is safe and on the return of the Regional Supervisor (from annual leave) he will arrange for the repair to be made. Again, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Regards UKA Office
What a great establishment the CWGC is, Fabian Ware would be proud.
