Hi Total, not sure if you already have this info but Harold's brother also served WW1 Frederick Crook of 17 East Ordsall lane, Salford Private 503126 393 H.S Labour Corps I think this could possibly be his medal card? Frederick Crook's medal card

Thanks for that Ben, I knew he had a brother from the paper cutting, but didn't know his name..... But Frederick would also tie in (as well as the address) because my Nana called her second son Frederick, and her first son was called John, which was Harolds middle name.
I downloaded that medal card info, i'm not fully sure what I'm looking at, but i think he may have been awarded 6 medals!

As far as I can see, Frederick gained the 14/15 Star and the Victory Medal, he was in the Manchester Regiment, before transferring to the Labour Corps.
The other 5 are different Frederick Crooks lol

hiya total harolds body wouldnt have been placed on the edge of the trench, his pals would have made sure that he got a decent burial when things had quietened down, they would have buried him close to the lines out of site of the snipers, when the pennisular was evacuated, the locals took away thousands of grave markers for firewood, thats why there are many men who have unknown graves,or who have special memorials in cemeteries at gallipoli
the gallipoli peninsular is a peace park, the turks are very keen to make sure that its not abused, anyone trying to remove souveniers[badges, bones or artifcts]will be prosecuted, they regard it as grave robbing, they are the only former enemy of our country, who care about our fallen servicemen

Thanks Mack.
Well what ever became of his final resting place we'll never find out, but although I've only ever seen pictures of the place you can see how beautiful it is, so his final place will remain there forever in that beautiful place.
Hard to imagine the horror and death that happened there because the place looks so idyllic.
