It's cool. I love an excuse to pore over old maps. Had fun cross checking against the modern maps too. Union Street is still there in name, off Bolton Road, but redeveloped and looks like industrial now. On the old maps looks like a small estate of terraced houses possibly associated with the Royal Oak Cotton Mill. North Road appears to be long gone. I looks like it was around or under what is now Broad Street / East Lancs Road, though it's hard to tell because the area has changed beyond recognition since 1844-47!! I will await your call.

Thank You. I thought it would be more inkeeping with the forum Suppose I should have really gone for something relating to the Handley Page Halifax since they are what grandfather flew on in WWII, but thought Halifax might be confused with the place name, so went for this! [EDIT: As much as I admired Alex Higgins, the name isn't a tribute to him, hence the addition of 'Hawker' for clarity!]
