Hi & welcome to the forum. Where did this chap live and have you any more details on him? Could this be your G/Granddad? If it is these are his medal card index & his silver war badge record. Click on the images to see larger versions

Hi Ben Thanks very much for your help, that is fantastic Yes this certainly does look like my Great Granddad. He was born in Salford and he married a lady called Mary Jane Cunningham ? 1904. I don't know how long he served or if he died in service as I did see a document with Mary Jane on it and next to her name it said (Widow) Not heard of the silver war badge, will have to look this up Thank you again though

Hi Ben Yes that definitely sounds like him and my Grandad was called Patrick who went on to serve in the Lancashire Fusiliers too but in WW2. Can you tell by the code on the silver war badge why Richard was discharged ? It says Injury or sickness and does the death certificate list the cause of death. Thanks very much Ben

You can go to the General registry office and apply for his death certificate. They cost £7 as a PDF and it will give you his cause of death. They will be emailed to you within a few days. The cause maybe related to his injuries while serving during world war one? He would qualify for a C.W.G.C memorial as he died out side the qualifying date (First World War - 4th August 1914 to 31st August 1921). Fill it in with the details below ( BUCKLOW- covers Salford ) Click here for G.R.O. link Click here to see how the G.R.O. form should be filled out Ben
