Hi,
Stan (as he was known) was my paternal grandfather and sadly he perished in Singapore during WWII; he is quite rightly listed on here already as he is on a memorial in Singapore however it appears he is also listed on a memorial in St Clements Church in Ordsall (he was born in Ordsall). Can someone advise how I would check that this is one and the same person please? My Dad never mentioned it before he passed away so can't have been aware of it (it appears my Grandma fell out with the Forrest family after the war).
I would be really grateful for any advice.
Cheers, Dave

Dave,
Welcome to the forum.
I am sure that it is Arthur that is remembered on the St Clement's memorial. I can only find one Arthur Stanley Forrest who was killed during WW2. Gunner FORREST, ARTHUR STANLEY Service Number 1738779
Died 01/03/1942
Aged 34
12 Bty., 6 H.A.A. Regt. Royal Artillery
Son of Percy and Ann Forrest; husband of Olive Forrest, of Salford, Lancashire.
Baptism: Baptism: 11 Sep 1907 St Cyprian, Ordsall, Lancs. Arthur Stanley Forrest - [Child] of Percy Forrest & Anne Born: 24 Aug 1907 Abode: 9 Nashville St. Occupation: Labourer Baptised by: H. D. L. Source: Manchester Central Library
The 1939 register shows Arthur, a brewers labourer, living at 51 Bloodwell St, Salford, with his wife Olive. Was Olive's surname Thomas?

Thank you so much for your response which I only just noticed.
And yes my Grandma did re-marry to Herbert Thomas after the war and she lived at 51 Blodwell St until she passed away in 1975 (by coincidence I work 5 minutes walk away although the area has been completely rebuilt in the last few years).
It appears none of the family knew about St Clements memorial to him and I had always thought it strange that he wasn't remembered in his home city so am delighted to find out that actually is and will be paying a visit to the church in the near future.
I genuinely appreciate your help.
Kind regards,
Dave Forrest
